Oct 01, 2018 Politics Comments Off on Asus ZenFone series smartphones top 6 million units in Taiwan
Taipei, The sale of ZenFone series smartphones has exceeded 6 million units nationwide since the phone's introduction in 2014, Taiwan-based PC brand Asustek Computer Inc. said Monday.
According to Asustek, the number was made possible by a recent surge in sales generated by the ZenFone Max Pro, which helped boost the company's smartphone sales in July and August this year, with up to 35 percent growth over the same period last year.
The Zenfone Max Pro, which employs Qualcomm's Snapdragon 636 octa-core chipset, has a 5000mAh battery and runs stock Android. It was released in Taiwan in July.
The same positive results are expected with the highly requested Asus ROG (Republic of Gamers) Phone, for which local telecom carriers began accepting preorders at the end of September, according to the tech firm.
The ROG Phone is the first Asus smartphone to target mainly mobile gamers.
According to a Japanese brokerage firm, the company's branded sales and group consolidated sales in August fell 10 percent annually to NT$31.1 billion (US$1.02 billion), which it said would dampen the company's growth outlook for the year-end peak season.
