Nov 19, 2018 Politics Comments Off on Cambodia Airways to launch Siem Reap-Taichung flights
Taipei, Cambodia Airways announced Monday it will open a new route Wednesday that links Siem Reap in Cambodia with Taichung in central Taiwan.
The airline will operate two flights a week between the two destinations using an Airbus A319, which has 150 seats, the airline said, and its maiden flight Wednesday is fully booked.
Upbeat on the rapidly growing business opportunities and tourism potential in the two countries, the airline also plans to launch a new route between Phnom Penh and Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan in the future, it said.
The carrier first launched operations between Cambodia and Taiwan when it began flying between Siem Reap and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Oct. 9.
Founded in 2017, Cambodia Airways currently has only two A319s and has operation centers in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.
It plans to operate a fleet of 20 A320 family aircraft by 2023, connecting the three cities in Cambodia to overseas destinations within and outside the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), such as Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Macau, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan.
