Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate, received a visiting Russian delegation led by H.E. Nikolay Fedorov, First Vice President of the Federation Council of Russian Federal Assembly, at the Senate Palace, Phnom Penh on Mar. 16.
Samdech Say Chhum expressed warm welcome and highly valued the Russian delegation's visit which was made on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, said Senate's spokesperson H.E. Mam Bunneang after the meeting.
The visit contributed to further strengthening and expanding the ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation in all sectors for the benefit of the two countries and peoples, as well as the two legislative bodies.
Samdech Say Chhum expressed his gratitude to the Russian Federation for having assisted Cambodia since the country's liberation from the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime and for having provided scholarships to around 8,000 Cambodian students.
For his part, H.E. Nikolay Fedorov praised Cambodia for her remarkable development and pledged to continue helping Cambodia and deepening her cooperation with the Kingdom in the fields of investment, tourism and other sectors.
Following the meeting, Samdech Say Chhum witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between both legislative bodies.
H.E. Nikolay Fedorov has been on a three-day official visit to Cambodia from Mar. 16 to 18.
