Taipei-Taiwanese tennis veteran Latisha Chan (???) and her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig overpowered their opponents in two sets to advance to the mixed doubles quarterfinals at the U.S. Open in New York on Sunday.
The pair, having won the mixed doubles titles at the French Open and Wimbledon this season, crushed Raluca Olaru of Romania and Franco Skugor of Croatia 6-1, 6-1 in 46 minutes.
Seeded fourth in the tournament, the Taiwanese-Croatian duo were quick to take an early lead, breaking their opponents' serve in the opening set to go ahead 3-0.
Olaru and Skugor only managed to hold their serve once in the first set.
Chan and Dodig continued their dominance in the second set, giving away only one more game to close out the match played at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
They will next face American Raquel Atawo and French Fabrice Martin for a spot in the semifinals.
Earlier on Sunday, Chan, who also competed in the women's doubles together with her younger sister Chan Hao-ching (???), lost to Anastasija Sevastova of Croatia and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 6-3, 0-6, 3-6 in the second round of the tournament.
The U.S. Open, the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year after the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon, concludes Sept. 8.
