To introduce Taipei to a growing number of visitors, the Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) teamed up with nwcatv and Shih Hsin University to launch a TV series spotlighting travel in the city.
According to TPEDOIT Deputy Commissioner Chiu Peng-hsin, the program will take viewers on a journey to explore the city from the perspectives of dining, recreation, transportation, accommodation, fashion, cultural creativity, and more. It seeks to leave travelers with an impression of Taipei and its accessible transportation – whether by bus, MRT, or simply on foot. For example, the first episode will feature Taipei Expo Park’s Pavilion of Dreams– which recently claimed two silver medals in the 2014 MUSE Awards—as well as the PET-bottles edifice EcoARK and MAJIMAJI marketplace. Chiu touted that another highlight of the show will be ‘celebrity guide to Taipei,’ which will see a number of popular bloggers introducing local tourist spots and cultural heritage sites, as well as discovering the hidden gems of the city. Dadaocheng Historical Block, Jingmei Night Market, and Wanhua are just some of these hidden delights. The 12-episode program will be aired at 10 AM every Saturday on Channel 39 between June 28 and September 13. Residents of New Taipei City, Changhua County, Chiayi County, and Hualien County will also be able to see the program on Channel 4.
