The Animal Protection Office (APO) will be holding pet adoption events at the 2014 Pets Taipei pet supplies exhibition at TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall between July 11 and 14.
The campaign is part of its initiative to promote ‘adopting rather than buying.’ APO noted that individuals who bring a furry friend home during the events will receive eight bonus services, including free microchip implant, pet registration, neutering, rabies immunization, polyvalent vaccine administration, parasite preventative medication, pet care training, and more. The bundle is worth NT$18,000 in total. To promote animal welfare and dog/cat raising know-how, the staff members at the APO booth will also challenge participants to five quizzes. Those completing the challenges will receive a fukubukuro (lucky bag) containing surprising gifts. Only 200 bags are available each day, so act fast! According to APO, Taipei has helped 23,722 dogs and cats find a home since 2008, achieving an adoption rate of 65.15%. The city government will continue its effort to boost adoption rate and expand care services for more homeless animals, making Taipei a global pet-friendly city.
