As part of the City’s initiative to promote bus etiquette, the Public Transportation Office (PTO) organized a press event on July 30 to announce the spokespersons of the event—a group of cosplayers dressed up as comic characters.
The eye-catching ‘cosers’ will travel on the city’s buses to advocate public transportation manners and rules such as yielding seats to the needed, taking your backpack off (hand-carrying it or placing it around your feet), holding tight to the handrails to ensure safety, and saying thank-you to the driver when alighting.
Denka, a well-known coser who takes on the role as Snow White for the campaign, urged bus riders to take heed of their own safety. She cited an incident where a passenger was so immersed in using his smart phone that he nearly fell on the floor because he forgot to grab onto the handles.
PTO noted that the city’s bus passengers will have a chance to encounter these goodwill cosplay ambassadors on any one of the seventy-five rides throughout the months of July and August. Characters including Hatsune Miku, Tony Tony Chopper, Uzumaki Naruto, and Detective Conan from Japanese manga as well as Elsa the Snow Queen of Disney animation Frozen will greet passengers and relay the message on public transportation etiquette.
For those who are lucky enough to encounter these cosplayers, don’t forget to take their photos and upload them to the campaign’s Chinese facebook fan page: (https://www.facebook.com/tp.bus). Those uploading their best shots will be eligible to enter a raffle for coupons!
