Defense Minister Feng Shih-kuan has met with President Salvador Sanchez Ceren of El Salvador.
Feng was visiting El Salvador as part of a trip to several of Taiwan's Latin American allies. During the meeting Wednesday, the two talked about national affairs and promoting bilateral exchanges and ties. The Salvadoran president said he values ties with Taiwan and thanked him for Taiwan's support. Meanwhile, Feng said he wants to see more bilateral military exchanges and cooperation.
Feng also met with El Salvador's Defense Minister General David Munguia Payes. Munguia gave Feng a medal for service to thank him for his work towards ties between the two nations. Feng gave Munguia a badge to represent the strong ties between Taiwan and El Salvador.
Feng will return to Taiwan on Friday. Though the Cabinet is resigning en masse on Thursday, many believe he will continue to head the defense ministry after the reshuffle.
