A super typhoon is expected to make landfall in Taiwan, Fujian province and other eastern and southern areas of China on Saturday.
The national meteorological authority has warned that it will bring torrential rain and wind gusts for five days.
Heavy rainfall and strong gales have already affected transportation in these areas, with several flights and shipping services heading to Taiwan on Saturday suspended.

High-speed trains to and from Fujian over the weekend have also been canceled.
Typhoon Soudelor is set to reach Taiwan on Saturday morning before moving northwest and intensifying, said Gao Shuanzhu, a typhoon expert at the China Central Meteorological Station, on Friday.
In some areas the accumulated rainfall will reach 600 mm, Gao said
The typhoon is expected to make a second landfall in Fujian on Saturday evening and affect parts of Shanghai and Guangdong, Jiangxi, Hubei, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces for four to five days.
Most of these areas will have torrential rain. Central and northern parts of Fujian will have rainfall of more than 500 mm over the weekend, while Anhui and Jiangsu will see the heaviest rainfall on Monday and Tuesday.
Authorities canceled seven trains heading to Fuzhou in Fujian over the weekend, while shipping services between Fujian and Taiwan have been suspended, along with five flights bound for Fujian.
Nearly 5,000 people – most of them aquatic farm workers – have been evacuated from coastal areas of Fujian to inland locations.
Authorities in the province also ordered all fishing boats to return to port by 10 am on Friday, as gales of up to 133 kilometers per hour were expected.
The national flood control authority warned regions expected to be hit by the typhoon to prepare for flooding and other disasters.
Two strong typhoons affected southern and eastern coastal areas a month ago, and a new one that is about to form in the Pacific might also affect these areas.
