Domestic businesses should explore the possibilities of building smart cities, President Tsai Ing-wen said Tuesday.
Tsai was speaking at the opening of the 2017 Smart City Expo. The expo is an annual trade fair on urban development and related fields in information and communication technology.
Tsai said smart cities with their integrated tech infrastructure are the way of the future. She said she hopes Taiwan can take advantage of its tech expertise and integrate the newest internet technologies to create a more connected city environment.
Tsai has also highlighted the government's efforts to advance the country's infrastructure. She said the government would like to connect all major public infrastructures, such as museums and railways, with internet technologies in the future.
