Taipei--Free WiFi access is now available on 80 percent of the trains on the high speed railway, the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. (THSRC) said Monday.
The company said it has recently begun to set up WiFi facilities on its trains in cooperation with Chunghwa Telecom, allowing travelers to access the government-backed, free "iTaiwan" WiFi service while on the go.
Although 80 percent of the trains now have WiFi installed, there may be poor signals on some sections at this point, the THSRC said.
The company said it is planning to have WiFi installed on all its trains in time for the Universiade Taipei 2017, which begins on Aug. 19, by which time the quality of WiFi connection will have also improved.
