Nov 26, 2016 Medical Comments Off on Mailbox with Saisiyat flavor unveiled in Miaoli
A mailbox that stands outside the Nanzhuang Post Office in Miaoli County had a new look Friday after it was painted with the colors of one of Taiwan's indigenous peoples -- the Saisiyat (???) -- instead of its conventional green color.
It was part of a campaign by Chunghwa Post Co. to underscore the features and culture of Taiwan's indigenous tribes by unveiling mailboxes with aboriginal flavors.
It presented a mailbox with an Atayal (???) flavor in Jianshi Township in Hsinchu County on Thursday.
On Friday, the Nanzhuang Post office arranged for members of the Saisiyat tribe to perform songs and dances at the launch ceremony and invited the public to write post cards with Saisiyat motifs and put them in the box.
The Saisiyat and Atayal are two of Taiwan's 16 recognized indigenous tribes.
