Taipei, Snow fell on Yushan, Taiwan's highest mountain, Thursday afternoon, as an approaching moist front sent temperatures to as low as minus one degree Celsius on the mountain, the Central Weather Bureau said.
Although the weather in plains areas around Taiwan remained sunny and warm, snow fell on 3,952-meter Yushan at about 4:50 p.m. as an approaching weather front brought moisture and low temperatures to the area, CWB forecaster Lin Ting-yi (???) said.
Snow in March is not uncommon in mountainous areas of Taiwan, Lin said, adding that snowfall has been recorded in April and May in several mountainous areas over the past few years.
