Starting July 1, 2014, individuals will be able to apply for name changes or birthdate information correction on their National Health Insurance (NHI) Card at household registration offices across Taipei.
Applicants will need to provide a 2-inch photo of himself or herself, along with a completed form and NT$200 processing fee. The new card will be mailed to the applicant’s home by the National Health Insurance Administration (NHI).Since May 20 this year, the city has collaborated with NHI to allow streamlined insurance enrollment and NHI card-processing for newborns when parents visit the household registration offices to register their baby. As of June 25, a total of 1,971 cases have been processed.Civil Affairs Commissioner Huang Lu Ching-ju noted that over the year, the agency has worked with various departments on policies spanning the fields of land administration, taxation, vehicles management, and more. It also implemented its own policies such as the Maternity Benefits Program and “Lucky Bags” for newlyweds.She added that the ability to process name changes, birthday changes, and the dispatching of renewed NHI card during a single visit will help individuals save time and avoid unnecessary hassle.Hit: 20
