Taipei, Wang Da-hong (???), the renowned architect of the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, passed away Monday at the age of 100, his son confirmed Tuesday.
Wang died in his sleep at 7:05 p.m. He had been bedridden for long periods since suffering a stroke four to five years ago, which affected his speech and his ability to swallow.
Wang was born July 6, 1917 in Beijing and studied at Cambridge University and Harvard University, according to information on the Ministry of Culture (MOC) website.
After leaving China at the age of 13 to study in Europe and the United States, Wang relocated in 1952 to Taipei, which is home to his remarkable design, the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, completed in 1972.
