Taipei-- The new chairwoman of the Fair Trade Commission (FTC), Huang Mei-ying (???), announced Wednesday a five-point policy that she said would maintain more efficient market competition in line with emerging new economic development models.
After being sworn in at a ceremony earlier in the day, Huang said she planned to further promote inter-ministerial coordination and cooperation, in order to achieve market liberalization and improve fair trade competition in the country.
Huang said that she was also looking to revise the relevant laws and regulations to curb unfair trade practices, enhance control of multi-level marketing, increase international exchanges on related laws and regulations, and participate more actively in cross-border cooperation.
At the ceremony, Perng Shaw-jiin (???) was sworn in as Huang's deputy, while Honigmann Hong (???) and Kuo Shu-chen (???) assumed new positions as FTC commissioners.
The FTC is an independent government agency under the Executive Yuan. It is responsible for formulating fair trade policy, drafting relevant laws and regulations, and investigating activities restricting competition, such as the formation of monopolies, mergers, collusions and cartels, and other unfair trade practices by businesses in Taiwan.
