Taipei, The 2018 World Congress and Carnival of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World (MBBW) will run from Sept. 27-Oct. 1, with about 30 countries participating, according to Penghu County government.
The county government will organize a series of activities during the carnival, including a parade, evenings of entertainment, large exhibitions, forums and sport events.
The Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World grew out of an idea from three tourism officials in France in 1996, and has since expanded to cover bays in 38 countries and regions.
The county government says that holding the carnival will allow it to promote the beauty of Penghu and attract more international and domestic tourists, thereby boosting the local tourism industry, Penghu County Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu (???) said.
At the congress, the government looks forward to discussing ocean restoration, marine environment maintenance, tourism and renewable energy with members of the club, Chen added.
