Taipei, Taiwan Lottery Corp. will add an additional NT$300 million (US$9.57 million) to the jackpots of two national lotteries to celebrate the upcoming MidAutumn Festival, the company announced Monday.
Taiwan Lottery General Manager Tsai Kuochi said an extra NT$200 million will be added to the draw of the Power Lottery Sept. 2.
According to the company, there will also be an additional 100 lottery draws of NT$1 million for the Grand Lottery game from Sept. 3 to Oct. 4.
Besides the two major lottery games, the company will provide another incentive to players, increasing the prize winnings of its Bingo Bingo game for 16 consecutive days Sept. 621.
Altogether, Taiwan Lottery is expected to shell out roughly NT$500 million extra for the upcoming lotteries, Tsai said.
As of Aug. 18 this year, Taiwan Lottery sales have reached some NT$90 billion, which is NT$12.2 billion more than the same period of last year, he added.
This year's MidAutumn Festival, one of the three major traditional festivals in Taiwan along with the Dragon Boat Festival and the Lunar New Year Festival, falls on Sept. 13.
