Taipei, Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH), in collaboration with a medical center in Vietnam, on Monday launched a special treatment service for Taiwanese expatriates there.
The facility, housed in the University Medical Center (UMC) in Ho Chi Minh City, will serve an estimated 60,000 Taiwanese in Vietnam, the hospital said.
Most of the Taiwanese expatriates in Vietnam are employees of companies based in central Taiwan, according to head of TCVGH Hsu Hui-heng (???).
Taichung Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-ying (???), who took part in the opening ceremony via video conferencing, said the medical center will effectively ensure the quality of treatment available to Taiwanese nationals living and working in Vietnam.
In May 2017, TCVGH and UMC signed a memorandum of understanding to promote medical exchanges between them, including the training of UMC nephrologists in Taiwan, according to the Taichung City Health Bureau.
