Taipei--Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (???) is scheduled to depart Sunday on a one-week visit to Malaysia, Thailand and India, during which he will promote Taipei tourism and the 2017 Universiade that will be hosted by the city, the local government said Saturday.
Ko will be in Kuala Lumpur from March 26 to 27, then in Bangkok on March 28, according to an itinerary released by the city government's Secretariat.
He will head to New Delhi on March 29 and return to Taiwan on April 2.
While in Malaysia, the mayor will visit Malaysia Digital Economy Corp. and sign a memorandum of understanding with the state of Selangor to pave the way for cooperation in the areas of transportation, innovation and smart cities, Taipei government spokesman Liu Yi-ting (???) said.
In Thailand, Ko will sign a letter of intent on cooperation with the Thailand Creative and Design Center to strengthen exchanges and interaction between the cultural and design sectors of the two countries, Liu said.
In India, Ko will attend the 2017 Taipei-New Delhi Economic Cooperation Forum and visit the Indian Institutes of Technology, Liu said.
