Vice President Chen Chien-jen (???) on Thursday urged members of a delegation of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) to support Taiwan's bid to host ISF world school sport games in the future, saying it would be a win-win situation for the island.
Speaking in a meeting with the ISF delegation, headed by the organization's president Laurent Patrynka, at the Presidential Office, Chen said that Taiwan has rich experience in organizing international sport games, including the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung, the 2009 Summer Deaflympics in Taipei, the 2014 ISF World Schools Badminton Championship in Taipei, the 2015 Asia Pacific Deaf Games in Taoyuan and the 2016 International Children's Games in New Taipei.
Taiwan will also host the 2017 Universiade in Taipei and the 2019 East Asian Youth Games in Taichung, central Taiwan, the vice president noted.
In addition, the government has constructed and remodeled some 60 international standard stadiums, gyms and other sport facilities in northern Taiwan in recent years, Chen said.
He also urged his guests to support Taiwan's bid to get the full membership of the ISF, saying it has actively participated in the organization's activities over the past 16 years as an associate member.
