Taiwanese badminton player Fang Jen-yu (???) suffered two defeats in a day on Saturday, wrapping up Taiwan’s campaign at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
The 22-year-old Taiwanese player first played Cheah Liek Hou (???) of Malaysia in the men’s SU5 semifinals, with the Malaysian winning 15-21, 21-10, 21-16.
Fang then contested the bronze medal match against world No. 3 Suryo Nugroho of Indonesia, who took home the medal with a 21-16, 21-9 victory.
Fang told reporters after the matches that he still has much to learn, from the sophisticated and skillful way his two opponents played.
He said he is happy to have been able to compete at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, which included badminton for the first time and hopes to win a medal at a major event in the future.
Fang was the last of the 10 Taiwanese athletes competing at the Tokyo Paralympics, which holds its closing ceremony Sunday.
Taiwan won one medal at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, a bronze that went to table tennis player Tien Shiau-wen (???) in the women’s class 10 event.
Ten Taiwanese athletes competed in six sports in Tokyo — table tennis, badminton, powerlifting, standing javelin throw, swimming and judo.
