New York- Taiwan tennis player Chan Hao-ching (???) on Wednesday defeated her sister Latisha Chan (???) in a semi-final match to advance to the finals of the mixed doubles competition at the U.S. Open.
The top seeds Chan Hao-ching, 25, and New Zealander Michael Venus defeated the fourth seeds Latisha Chan, 30, and her doubles partner Ivan Dodig of Croatia 7-6 (3), 7-5 in a match that lasted 1 hour and 32 minutes.
The Taiwanese-New Zealand pair got off to a slow start, falling behind 0-2 in the first set, but they came from behind and prevailed in the tie breaker.
In a cliffhanger second set, Chan Hao-ching and Venus scored a break at 5-5 to gain the lead and seal the deal.
The defeat ended the victorious run of the Taiwanese-Croatian duo after they won the mixed doubles titles at the French Open and Wimbledon earlier this year.
Chan Hao-ching and Venus will face British player Jaime Murray and American Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the finals.
