Taipei, Major League Baseball pitcher Chen Wei-yin (???) said Wednesday he was happy he was in good shape and could stay in the game although his performance in the recently concluded regular season was not that great.
At a press conference on arrival home in Taiwan, Chen, who plays for the Miami Marlins, said one of the events that made him happy was ripping out his first career double in a home game against the Atlanta Braves.
Chen played his first game of the season on April 28, after missing most of 2017 and the first month of the 2018 season due to an injury to his left elbow.
As the starting pitcher in 26 games in the season that ended Oct. 1, the left-hander was credited with 6 wins and 12 losses and finished with an ERA of 4.79.
Chen described it as not too great a performance but said he was happy to be in the game and in good shape.
While in Taiwan, he said, he plans to take part in an activity related to stray animals and meet with fans at a baseball camp.
