Taipei--Three men in Yunlin County have been detained by police as part of an investigation into allegations they stole about 200 ducks after they escaped from a pen in Dounan Township after a fence collapsed during a torrential downpour several days ago, police said on Thursday.
According to Yunlin police, the ducks escaped from the pen when the fence collapsed due to the heavy rain and flooding that started last Friday.
After the floodwater subsided, the duck farmer visited the pen and found three men rounding up the ducks. He told them to stop but they ignored him, according to the police.
As a result, the farmer immediately reported the three men to the police for theft of property.
Yunlin police headed to the site where they seized about 200 stolen ducks and the truck the three men planned to use to transport them.
The three men were arrested, brought to the police station and charged with theft.
