Taipei, The annual flower season in Yangmingshan National Park starts on Thursday. During the season, traffic controls will be in place in the mountainous park located in suburban Taipei from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
From Thursday to March 25, traffic controls will be enforced to cope with the large number of people expected to visit Yangmingshan, according to the Traffic Division of Taipei City Police Department.
The traffic controls will apply on Feb. 24, 25, 28 and March 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 on Yangde Boulevard, the main road to Yangmingshan.
Checkpoints on the intersection between Yangde Boulevard and Zhichen Road and at the entrance to the first lane on Zhishan Road Section Two will stop all private vehicles without a permit, traffic police said.
Other checkpoints on Yangmingshan will enforce flexible traffic controls, the police said, suggesting that those wanting to visit the flower festival should use public transport.
