Tropical storm in waters southeast of Japan unlikely to hit Taiwan: CWB

A tropical depression that formed in waters southeast of Japan on Sunday is unlikely to make landfall in Taiwan, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

The tropical storm, Hinnamnor (???), is forecast to move in a west-northwesterly direction at a speed of 27 kilometers per hour and is forecast to reach waters northeast of Taiwan Wednesday, according to the CWB.

The pressure at the storm’s center has been measured at 998 hectopascals, and the wind near the center is moving at an average speed of 18 meters per second, with a top speed of 25 per second at its strongest, the CWB said.
