Jul 31, 2017 Entertainment Comments Off on Typhoon Nesat and Tropical Storm Haitang cause agricultural damages
Typhoon Nesat and Tropical Storm Haitang hit Taiwan over the weekend and have caused agricultural damages worth NT$240 million (over US$7.9 million). That's the word from the Council of Agriculture.
The council said nearly half of the damaged produce were green onions grown in the northeastern Yilan county.
The latest statistics released by the Central Disaster Contingency Center on Monday show that the two disasters left one person missing and more than 131 injured. Most of them were hit by fallen objects, cut by broken windows or injured after falling from motorbikes.
President Tsai Ing-wen visited affected areas Monday afternoon and said that the government would mobilize resources to do post-disaster work in the shortest time possible.
Many areas in the southern counties of Kaohsiung and Pingtung have remained flooded.
