The head of the defense ministry's All-out Defense Mobilization office, Han Kang-ming, said annual air raid drills would take place in each region of Taiwan between March and May. Han also said the National Police Agency would use this year's drill to test an instant messaging response system.
In related news, Taipei is set to hold the 2017 Universiade in August. Han said the Office of Homeland Security will prepare for contingencies involving a terror attack on the event in its exercises. He said the office's Jin Hua exercises would be held on March 29 and 30 and that representatives of Taiwan's diplomatic allies would be invited to attend.
