Taipei-Special gifts, including a bottle of Kinmen kaoliang liquor, are being given to tourists who stay overnight in Lieyu Township, Kinmen, to celebrate the township's designation as a favorite spot for travelers in a Tourism Bureau campaign, Lieyu Township Office said Thursday.
Lieyu, part of Taiwan's offshore Kinmen County, started Sept. 1 to give gifts to visitors who stay overnight after the township was chosen as one of the nation's top 30 townships for tourism last year in the Tourism Bureau's Taiwan Small Town Ramble online vote which ran from Nov. 8-26, 2018, Lieyu Township chief Hung Jo-shan (???) said.
Before Nov. 30, visitors who provide proof of accommodation in Lieyu and post pictures of their travels on Facebook can receive the presents while visiting the township, according to Hung.
These include a limited edition bottle of Kinmen kaoliang liquor, with the title of the promotional campaign printed on the label, and caps, T-shirts, Easycards and USB flash drives for minors, Hung said.
Lieyu, also known as Little Kinmen, was one of Taiwan's frontier military posts against the Chinese communists during the Cold War era and has several tourist spots related to Kinmen's military history dotted around the island.
