Taipei, Water supplies to 35,139 households in areas of the central county of Nantou will be affected for 27 hours from Dec. 11 to allow for work to replace aged water mains in the areas, Taiwan Water Corp. (TWC) announced Tuesday.
Water supplies will be affected from 9 a.m. Dec. 11 and will not be restored until noon the following day in parts of the county, TWC said in a press release.
The old water pipes constructed in 1998 under a river were used to supply water to about 200,000 people in areas of Nantou County and Fangyuan Township in Changhua County, but to avoid the pipes being damaged by river water, TWC spent NT$56 million (US$1.83 million) to build a bridge for water pipes to replace the old underground pipes in order to ensure stable water supplies in the greater Nantou area.
The work will cause water supplies to 30,183 households to be interrupted, while 4,956 households will suffer low water pressure, according to TWC.
