Taipei-World No. 1 Tai Tzu-ying of Taiwan reached the women's singles final of the Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships 2017 after topping South Korean Sung Ji-hyun in the semifinals on Saturday.
Tai overcame the South Korean 21-9, 18-21, 21-7 in a match that lasted 52 minutes.
It was the third time that the Taiwanese has reached the Hong Kong Open finals, after having previously won the title in 2014 and 2016.
She will face either Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand or Pusarla V. Sindhu of India in the final on Sunday. Intanon upset Tai at the Tahoe China Open last week.
The Hong Kong Open has been held since 1982. It is one of the Badminton World Federation's (BWF) Superseries events with total prize money of US$400,000.
