U.S. trade commission votes to end antidumping duty probe for S. Korean tin mill products

WASHINGTON, Feb. 6 (Yonhap) — A U.S. trade commission voted Tuesday to end an antidumping duty probe into imports of tin mill products from South Korea, saying that the imports seen as being sold at less than fair value in the U.S. market are “negligible.”

The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) announced the decision, while also determining that tin mill products from Canada, China and Germany do not injure the U.S. industry. Tin mill is a steel product widely used for food packaging or to store other items.

“The commission further found that the imports of these products from South Korea that Commerce has determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value are negligible and voted to terminate the antidumping duty investigation concerning South Korea,” USITC said in a statement.

It added, “As a result of the finding of negligibility, the antidumping duty investigation regarding imports from South Korea will be terminated.”

Last month, the Department of Commerce said that imports o
f tin mill products from South Korea, China, Canada and Germany were found to have been dumped into the U.S. market as it announced its final antidumping duty determinations.

In the list of companies subject to duties was one South Korean firm on which the department set a duty rate of 2.69 percent.

The Royal Thai Navy is unclear about the sale of electricity in Sattahip.

Parliament, “Benja” points out that the Sattahip Navy power concession has high electricity costs, on and off, causing people’s electrical appliances to break. While the navy clearly explained Discuss next time. I understand if I want to reserve it for use in the unit. But does it have to be a distributor or not?

Ms. Benja Saengchan, MP for the Kao Klai Party, revealed the results of the meeting of the extraordinary committee to consider and study guidelines for transferring various businesses of the military to the care of the government and related agencies (No. 2). There are 2 important matters on the agenda: consideration of the provision of electrical services, welfare, navy concessions in the area of ??Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, and consideration of the framework for operating the committee, which was based on the resolution of the previous meeting. Live broadcasts are permitted from time to time. When the meeting starts Committee on the proportions of the progressive party therefore offere
d to broadcast live Because both agendas are matters that society is interested in. Especially the issue of electricity business, welfare, navy concessions. that the people have suffered greatly Have to pay expensive electricity bills Obtaining a permanent electricity meter is difficult. Most use temporary meters, but the committee chairman said he is concerned about the military’s energy security. and confirmed not to broadcast live

‘As for the transfer of the Navy Concession Welfare Electricity Business in the area of ??Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, to be under the care of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), from the meeting we learned information that was never known before. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) is the seller of electricity to the Royal Thai Navy Concession Welfare Electricity Business. The business then resells electricity to the public at a price higher than normal by more than 4 baht per unit. The business’s permanent meter etc. It sells for around 6 b
aht per unit, while temporary electricity meters can go as high as 8-10 baht per unit. In addition to the high electricity cost, The quality of service still has problems with power outages, lights coming on and off, causing damage to people’s electrical equipment. From the Facebook fan page of the business You will always see people come and criticize you. This is therefore an important factor taken into consideration in the study. How can this business be transferred to the relevant agency, namely PEA, to take care of it?” Ms. Benja said.

For the case of electricity rates at the business Sold to the public at a higher price than normal. Ms. Benja said that the army has not clearly explained this matter. It only says that the electricity rate is the same as PEA, but we have electricity bills from fellow citizens to confirm. Electricity costs are different. Even the military said it was a temporary meter. We confirmed it back. that it will be a permanent meter If you look at the electricity bill, it will be
clearly seen. that there is a difference of approximately 2 baht per unit, such as the people surrounding the military area Using the same number of electrical units, pay approximately 2,000 baht, but people living in the business area Must pay approximately 6,000 baht when combined with other taxes. This is equivalent to paying an electricity bill that is almost three times higher than it really is.

‘We are not impressed at all. If the army reserves power for use only in internal affairs and is in a security area This should be clearly divided, such as areas with weapons and equipment, combat areas, but areas beyond, such as resorts, are economic areas. Does the Navy still need to be an electricity distributor?’ Ms. Benja said.

Ms. Benja said that next week the committee will study the model for transferring the electricity business and welfare of the Navy concession of Ban Chang District, Rayong Province, which was transferred in 1994 to the PEA to take care of, currently the area of ??the district Ban Ch
ang is similar to the area of ??Sattahip District in that it has become an economic area. There is a tourism industry. However, in the meeting, the Navy clarified that Still has a license received from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to sell electricity for another 25 years. This matter must be discussed with the Ministry of Interior. Is it possible or not? to support the budget To be used to pay the concession fee paid by the Navy to the Energy Regulatory Commission. Or that the Navy has already invested in the electricity business. To deliver or transfer this business to PEA to take care of, which PEA is very ready for, so if the model of Ban Chang District is applied to Sattahip District, it can proceed quickly.

As for the case, Mr. Suthin Khlangsaeng, Minister of Defense, stated that the military accepted the change. The power plant at Sattahip can be returned by the army, but only the parts used by the army will be kept. Ms. Benja said she is not sure whether that will be the case or not. because
at the meeting Representatives from the military did not speak like Mr. Suthin. They also confirmed that Business area This is a security area.

Ms. Benja mentioned that the consideration of the committee’s operational framework has continued since the last meeting. who want to discuss the scope of work of this committee, but the chairman of the committee is still unclear I would like to postpone it to the next agenda item, saying that the Party Proportion Committee has advanced. Including others who saw that it was not necessary. Because this matter does not take long. While there are many military businesses Therefore, work must be framed for maximum benefit. in order to set up a sub-committee Will be able to go into detail on each issue, such as the Sub-Committee to Study the Energy Business, the Sub-Committee to Study the Radio Frequency Business. This will allow you to know what business the army has. that received concessions from the state or that is internal welfare or that is a welfare that must be r
eturned to the treasury When you see a clear picture The committee will be able to do its job completely. and all aspects within the framework of 90 days.
