Cooler weather to continue into next week, with rain forecast

The cooler weather seen Saturday will likely continue over the next few days in northern Taiwan due to seasonal northeasterly winds, with rain possible across Taiwan, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Saturday.

The weather system is expected to strengthen Sunday, pushing temperatures down further in the north and east and bringing brief showers to some areas in the morning, the CWB said.

According to the CWB, daytime highs reached 22-24 degrees in areas north of Taoyuan on Saturday but will fall to below 20 degrees in parts or northern and northeastern Taiwan on Monday and Tuesday.

Temperatures could start to rebound Wednesday as the seasonal winds weaken, the CWB forecast.

Taiwan’s weather will also be affected until May 6 by a cloud system moving in from the south that is expected to bring showers to northern and eastern Taiwan and sporadic rain to central and southern Taiwan, the CWB said.
