CORONAVIRUS/COVID vaccine record included in NHI Medi-Cloud system: CECC

Medical personnel can quickly access insured individuals’ COVID-19 vaccination records after a new function was integrated into Taiwan’s National Health Insurance’s (NHI) Medi-Cloud system last month, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said Friday.

Since June 24, medical personnel have been able to look up when and which brand of COVID-19 vaccines patients have been administered in Taiwan in the “TOCC” mechanism recorded on the NHI Medi-Cloud system, CECC spokesperson Chuang Jen-hsiang (???) told a regular news briefing.

However, the system would not have such a record for people who received a COVID-19 vaccine jab abroad, Chuang said.

The TOCC mechanism, which was established in January 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, stores information including insured individuals’ travel history, occupation, contact history, and cluster information that can be referenced when doctors provide medical consultations, according to the CECC.

While the current outbreak of COVID-19 infections in Taiwan is showing signs of slowing down, the latest Omicron sub-variants behind new COVID-19 surges abroad still pose a threat of causing local community transmission, Chuang said, urging people to get fully vaccinated to boost their protection against the virus.

As of July 11, Taiwan’s first-dose coverage has reached 91.4 percent and second-dose coverage 85.2 percent, with 70.7 percent of the population vaccinated with a booster dose, the CECC data showed.
