CORONAVIRUS/Taiwan reports 60 new COVID-19 cases, including 16 domestic

Taiwan reported 60 new COVID-19 cases — 16 domestically transmitted infections and 44 that originated abroad — and no new deaths from the disease on Sunday, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

Eleven of the new domestic cases were reported in Taoyuan and the other five in New Taipei. They are all related to previously reported cases, the CECC said.

Six of these individuals had received either two or three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, two had received one dose, and eight were unvaccinated, six of whom were children under 10 years old, according to the CECC.

In addition to the domestic cases, Taiwan also reported 44 imported cases on Sunday, 20 of which were travelers who tested positive upon arrival in Taiwan. The CECC did not release any information regarding the vaccination status of the imported cases.

To date, Taiwan has confirmed 20,433 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020, including 15,426 domestically transmitted infections.

With no deaths reported Sunday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country remains at 853.
