Taiwan reported five new COVID-19 cases, all of which were contracted overseas, and no deaths from the disease on Saturday, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
Of the five cases, two were Taiwanese nationals who recently returned from the United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh, while the other three were citizens of the United Kingdom, Ethiopia and the Philippines, the CECC said.
They all tested positive for the disease during their mandatory 14-day quarantine in Taiwan.
The new cases bring the total in Taiwan to 16,181, of which 14,415 are domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 COVID-19 cases in a single day.
No new deaths from the disease were recorded on Saturday, the CECC said.
To date, 841 people have died of COVID-19 since the epidemic began.
