New Year’s Eve parties around Taiwan

City and county governments and some theme parks around Taiwan have planned New Year’s Eve countdown events, several of which include a fireworks show, to usher in 2023.

Here is a list of major countdown events around Taiwan, many of which will be live streamed from 7 p.m. The first fireworks display of the evening will take place in New Taipei’s Tamsui and Bali districts at 8:23 p.m.

New Taipei

The city government has held a series of New Year’s Eve events since Saturday afternoon in the districts of Bali and Tamsui, and a firework show of 13 minutes and 14 seconds at 8:23 p.m. will be live streamed by Taiwan Television Enterprise, Ltd (TTV) through its YouTube channel.

Taipei

The countdown party held by the city government in front of Taipei City Hall, and the Taipei 101 skyscraper’s firework display at the midnight on New Year’s Eve is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and to be live streamed by the Taipei City Government’s YouTube channel.

Taoyuan

Taoyuan’s “Show Taoyuan” countdown event, set to begin at 7 p.m., will be streamed online by NEXT TV (YouTube/Facebook).

Rock band Mayday’s concert in Taoyuan “Fly to 2023” will live streamed by B’in Music (YouTube) from 10:45 p.m.

Taichung

Taichung’s countdown celebration will be held at Taichung Central Park for the third year in a row. SETN’s (Sanlih E-Television News) Youtube channel will stream the event online from 7 p.m.

In addition, the Lihpao Land theme park and resort in the central city will put on a 330-second fireworks display paired with a light show highlighting the park’s famous Ferris wheel. The event will be broadcast from 9 p.m. by TTV and a Sanlih channel.

Tainan

The southern city’s countdown event, which was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., has been streamed online by TVBS News shortly after 6 p.m.

Kaohsiung

The port city of Kaohsiung will first hold a concert from 7 p.m. before a 180-second firework show at midnight to celebrate the arrival of 2023. The event will be streamed online by Formosa TV.
