Rashid Meredov discussed the construction of TAPI with a new ADB representative

On June 23, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the new Director of the Permanent Representative Office of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Turkmenistan Artur Andrisyak .

The parties discussed cooperation in energy, industry, transport, trade and banking, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports .

“Particular emphasis is placed on the implementation of the project for the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline,” the information message says.

Recall that in early March it became known that the Asian Development Bank, which was the coordinator of the TAPI project, suspended its participation in the implementation of the gas pipeline until the UN and major economic states recognize the Taliban government.

A few days later, the Ministry of Finance of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the official name of the country after the Taliban came to power) reported that despite the ADB decision, work on the TAPI gas pipeline would continue.

In early June, Afghan Ministry of Mines and Oil spokesman Esmatullah Burkhan said that work on the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline would resume in four months.
