Thomas Wong assumes office as AIT Kaohsiung branch office chief

Thomas Wong (???) has taken up the post of the American Institute in Taiwan’s (AIT) Kaohsiung branch office chief, the United States’ de facto embassy announced on Tuesday.

Since joining the U.S. Foreign Service in 2010, Wong, a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Johns Hopkins University, has served at the AIT in Taipei, as well as in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs in Washington, D.C., and at the U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara, Mexico, the AIT said in a press release.

Wong also served as president of the U.S. Department of State’s Asian American Foreign Affairs Association from 2014 to 2016, and spent six years in the military and the private sector prior to joining the diplomatic service.

Wong replaces the departing Mason Yu (???) as leader of the AIT’s branch office in Kaohsiung.
