Toshiba Launches Small Photorelay Suitable for High-Frequency Signal Switches in Semiconductor Testers

Kawasaki, Japan–(ANTARA/Business Wire)– tmlToshiba Electronic Devices and Storage Corporation (“Toshiba”) has launched “tmlTLP3475W,” a photorelay in a small, thin WSON4 package. It reduces insertion loss and suppresses power attenuation in high-frequency signals [1] and is suitable for the pin electronics of semiconductor testers, which use a large number of relays and require high-speed signaling. Volume shipments start today. Toshiba’s optimized package designs reduces parasitic capacitance and inductance in the new photorelay. This reduces insertion loss and improves the transmission characteristic of high-frequency signals to 20GHz (typ.) [2], about 1.5 times lower [2] than Toshiba’s current product, TLP3475S.

TLP3475W uses a small, thin WSON4 package that is only 0.8mm (typ.) thick, making it the smallest [3] photorelay in the industry to realize improved high-frequency signal transmission characteristics. It is 40% lower in height than Toshiba’s ultra-small S-VSON4T package, allowing more products to be mounted on the same circuit board, and will contribute to improved measuring efficiency.

Toshiba will continue to expand its product line-up to support semiconductor testers that deliver higher speeds and greater functionality.

Minister supports KBRI Canberra to conduct digital transformation

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas expressed his support for the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Canberra, Australia, to continue to conduct digital transformation.”This (digital transformation) is being implemented to provide people with an easier access to public services while adapting to their varied needs,” he noted in a written statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Minister Anas remarked that the embassy constituted the governmental unit closest to Indonesian citizens in Australia since the services it offers are directly related to the need of citizens.

“Hence, we would like to encourage KBRI to ensure that the services offered meet the expectations of the Indonesian citizens,” he noted in the presence of Indonesian Ambassador to Australia Siswo Pramono during his visit to the KBRI on Monday (October 16).

The government is currently promoting the implementation of the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE), he said, adding that such a system is aimed at integrating and interconnecting all bureaucratic digital applications.

“It is necessary to accelerate the realization of digital transformation through the implementation of SPBE by optimizing Prospera (Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Economic Development) and other means,” he remarked.

nas also reiterated that President Joko Widodo had called for impactful bureaucratic reform to provide the people with agile and swift bureaucratic services.

“Let us imagine bureaucracy as a component of a vehicle. In this context, bureaucracy is the engine that makes the vehicle move. As an engine, bureaucracy should remain in its prime condition, so it can push the vehicle toward its destinations,” he elaborated.

To conduct digital transformation in Indonesia, the government has issued several regulations, including Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No.95 of 2018 concerning SPBE and Perpres No. 13 of 2022 regarding the architecture of national SPBE.

“These regulations serve as the manifestations of the Indonesian government’s commitment to accelerating the integration of business processes, data and information, infrastructure for information and communication technology, applications, and information security, with the objective of making improvements in public services,” he remarked.

The government is taking a double-track approach to succeed in reforming Indonesian bureaucracy. The first track concerns general bureaucratic reform aimed at enhancing accountability and efficiency, while the other track is related to thematic bureaucratic reform.

By conducting thematic bureaucratic reform, the government seeks to alleviate poverty, draw more investments, control the inflation rate, and increase the government’s spending on domestic products.

Leang-leang Archaeological Park Becomes Disability Friendly

Maros (ANTARA) – The sun was overhead when the ASEAN countries delegations arrived at the Leang-leang Archaeological Park in Maros City, South Sulawesi. The air temperature is so hot. However, the scorching sun and blistering heat did not weaken their plan to enjoy the unique and rare view of prehistoric rocks.

Leang-leang Archaeological Park is an archaeological area with rocks and two prehistoric caves, namely Leang Pettae and Leang Petta Kere. Located around 30 kilometers from Sultan Hasanuddin Airport or 41 kilometers from Makassar City, Leang-leang can be reached in around 1 hour from Makassar City using the toll road.

The uniqueness of Leang-Leang Archaeological Park would definitely make its visitors stunned. As soon as they enter this 4.6 hectare park, the visitors will immediately see unusually-sized black stones spread out irregularly.

Each stone has a different shape and texture so it looks very distinctive. Some rise as high as three meters, some are only one meter high with a hole in the middle. This expanse of black stones contrasts so strongly with the green grass and lush trees around it.

Still in the same area, there are two caves located at a height of around 20 meters. To get to the cave with a diameter of about 3 meters and a depth of 10 meters, there is a safe and comfortable iron ladder. The other cave is more open with an area of around 4 meters. This cave is thought to have been inhabited by ancient humans around 8,000-3,000 BC.

Traces of ancient human remains can be seen from various drawings on the cave walls. There is a picture of two pigs with fangs and horns on their heads. There are also 28 images of palms.

“All the images were made using red earth mixed with various concoctions of trees, so they are strong enough to last for thousands of years,” said the guide in the cave.

Except for caves with difficult terrain, all access and facilities at Leang-leang are designed to be friendly for people with disabilities. For people with physical disabilities, there is a special lane for wheelchairs. Meanwhile, for people with visual disabilities, there is a voice recording played through loudspeakers about the uniqueness of the Leang-leang Archaeological Park.

“It is very accessible, I’m very impressed. So, I think, it’s good that the facilities have been made possible for which are users to come,” said the Chair of the ASEAN Disability Forum Lim Puay Tiak, while visiting the Leang-leang Archaeological Park with delegates from other ASEAN countries on Thursday (12/10/2023).

The founder of the Disability Inclusion Advocacy Institute (AUDISI), Yustisia Arief, expressed a similar remark. He is a person with a polio disability. Yustisia stated that he really appreciates the Leang-leang tourist destination which is friendly and comfortable for people with disabilities.

“So, we as people with disabilities can get our right to travel and enjoy the scenery here like other visitors. This is really fun,” Yustisia said.

Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini stated that she deliberately chose Makassar as the venue for the ASEAN High-Level Forum on Disability Inclusive Development and Partnerships beyond 2025 because there are unique tourist destinations around Makassar.

Different from other areas, Makassar has civilization destinations, namely the Leang-Leang Archaeological Park in Maros City, which was once inhabited by ancient humans, as well as Fort Rotterdam, which is around 500 years old, a legacy of the Gowa-Tallo Kingdom.

“Our common challenge is that every tourist destination must be friendly for people with disabilities. The two tourist destinations have been built and equipped with facilities ahead of the arrival of the ASEAN delegation so that they are friendly for people with disabilities,” said the Minister on the sidelines of the AHLF which took place from October 10 – 12, 2023.

HLF is an ASEAN High-Level Forum consisting of ASEAN ministers and senior officials who are responsible for social welfare. Also present were leaders of sectoral bodies related to social welfare, ASEAN-affiliated entities, as well as academics.

HLF 2023 is one of a series of ASEAN Summits under the chairmanship of Indonesia. Apart from being attended by ASEAN member countries, there were also delegations from the United States, England, and Australia.

Be vigilant while evacuating Indonesians from Israel, Palestine: DPR

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, has asked the government to remain vigilant while evacuating Indonesian citizens from Israel and Palestine.”I know that in the process of evacuation from conflict areas, there will definitely be various conditions in the field, but it cannot be an excuse for not providing optimal services for the safety of Indonesian citizens there,” she said in a statement issued by the DPR here on Monday.

Maharani highlighted that the state has an obligation to provide a guarantee of services and safety to its citizens in conflict areas.

“Even though so far no Indonesian citizens have become victims of the Israel-Palestine conflict, the threat of war is still quite high,” she said.

She added that the government must get ready for all contingencies regarding the ongoing conflict and prepare for the worst-case scenarios in evacuating Indonesians, especially from the Gaza Strip.

“Do not let our citizens become victims of war,” she stressed.

She appealed to Indonesian citizens to postpone their departure to the Israel-Palestine conflict areas, whether to volunteer or carry out religious tourism activities, until the war abates.

In carrying out the evacuation, she urged the government to cooperate with international organizations, such as the United Nations (UN) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

“The two international organizations have experiences and resources that can be used to secure and facilitate the process of evacuating Indonesian citizens,” she said.

She also asked the government to play a role in Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts and ensure that aid and support for Palestine is based on pure and universal human values.

“Hopefully, this effort can help create a more peaceful and just world for all communities,” she said.

She expressed the hope that the government would continue to intensify diplomatic efforts to invite countries in the world to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict and provide aid to war-affected victims.

“Diplomatic efforts must be promoted more by the Indonesian government. Both from the formal side, such as in international forums or bilateral meetings with other countries, as well as through an informal approach from the leader or representatives of the country,” she said.

Trade balance surplus supports external economic resilience: BI

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Executive Director of the Communications Department of Bank Indonesia (BI) Erwin Haryono stated that the trade balance surplus in September 2023 was able to support external resilience of the Indonesian economy.Indonesia’s trade balance surplus continued in September 2023 at US$3.42 billion, higher than the surplus of US$3.12 billion in August 2023.

“Bank Indonesia views this development as positive for further supporting the external resilience of the Indonesian economy,” Haryono noted in an official statement here on Tuesday.

Haryono said that in future, BI will continue to strengthen policy synergies with the government and other authorities to continue to increase external resilience and support national economic recovery.

The trade balance surplus in September 2023 mainly comes from the continued non-oil and gas trade balance surplus.

The non-oil and gas trade balance surplus reached US$5.34 billion, an increase as compared to the achievement of US$4.46 billion in the previous month.

This positive performance was supported by the continued strength of non-oil and gas exports, especially iron and steel, precious metal products and jewelry, as well as nickel commodities.

Based on the destination country, non-oil and gas exports to China, the United States, and India remain the main contributors to Indonesia’s exports. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas imports remained strong in line with the continued recovery in economic activity.

The oil and gas trade balance deficit was recorded to increase to US$1.92 billion in September 2023, in line with the increase in crude oil imports and oil output that was higher than the increase in crude oil exports.

Stunting prevention efforts should start from pregnancy: minister

Sentani (ANTARA) – Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasized that efforts to prevent stunting must be carried out during pregnancy before the baby is born.s quoted in a government press release here on Tuesday, Sadikin stated that mothers’ nutritional needs during pregnancy should be met to prevent the birth of children with a risk of stunting, failure to thrive due to chronic malnutrition, recurrent infections, and lack of stimulation.

“If the mother is malnourished, it is almost certain that her child will also be stunted,” he stated.

The minister then emphasized the importance of meeting the nutritional needs of babies while they are in the womb.

In order to prevent stunting in children, Sadikin said that mothers must also be ensured that they are in good health before and during pregnancy.

Hence, the government urges mothers to undergo a minimum of six health checkups during pregnancy.

“In the past, there were four health checks (recommended for) pregnant women. Now, it is (recommended) to be six times with the addition of an ultrasound (examination),” Minister Sadikin remarked, adding that ultrasound examination equipment had been provided at several Puskesmas, or community health centers.

Health checkups during pregnancy are needed to assess the health of the mother and fetus during pregnancy and to detect early maternal complications.
