Army helicopter makes safe precautionary landing in Tainan

Taipei-An Army OH-58D helicopter made a safe precautionary landing on farmland near Guiren Airport in Tainan Tuesday evening after the pilot noticed a warning indicator light during a training mission, according a military source.

The warning light indicated that the rotor blades of the helicopter were rotating too fast during a night-flying exercise, prompting the pilot to execute a precautionary landing in accordance with standard operating procedure, the military source said.

The helicopter, produced by American aerospace manufacturer Bell Textron, is stationed at the Republic of China Army Aviation Special Forces Command based in Tainan.

The military immediately dispatched personnel to the scene to carry out an inspection of the aircraft and set up a team to determine the cause of the incident, the Army Aviation Special Forces Command said in a statement.
