BMW begins construction of ASEAN’s first EV battery factory in Amata City, Rayong.

Bangkok: 8 Mar.-BMW begins construction. The first electric vehicle battery production line in ASEAN at Amata City Industrial Estate, Rayong.

Mr. Shiro Sadoshima, Honorary Advisor along with Mr. Satta Wanlappattana, Acting Chief Strategy Officer of Amata Corporation Public Company Limited, joined in congratulating Mr. Eric Ruge, Managing Director of Rayong Plant, BMW Company. Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. at the opening ceremony of the first BMW electric vehicle battery production line building in ASEAN at Amata City Rayong Industrial Estate.

Located in Amata City Rayong Industrial Estate, this factory assembles 18 models of cars and motorcycles, as well as 5 models of plug-in hybrid vehicles. This new electric battery production plant Covering an area of more than 4,000 square meters, this is a significant expansion of BMW’s operations. For the BMW Group, this investment budget is more than 1,600 million baht, or approximately 42 million euros, to develop this state-of-the-art project. This includes the latest Gen5 technology. A huge investment of over 1,400 million baht, or approximately 36 million euros, will be used to purchase and install state-of-the-art equipment and machinery.
