Dead fish littered many Chonburi beaches due to Plankton Bloom.

Environmental academic Bureau of Marine Resources Chonburi Province Pointing out that the cause of the dead fish strewn along the beach was Plankton Bloom, insisting it was not caused by oil stains in the sea.

From the case of Plankton Bloom or the phenomenon of sea water changing color. That happened around the beaches of Bang Saen, Bang Phra, and Pattaya, causing various types of fish to die all over the beach.

Mr. Sanchai Chanasongkram, an expert environmental academic, said that from visiting the area to inspect the relevant agencies. It is speculated that many of the fish deaths were caused by a natural phenomenon called Plankton Bloom, which causes the sea to turn green and the water to have a strong odor. It also causes the oxygen level in the water to be low, resulting in a lack of oxygen and many fish dying. Currently in the Bang Phra area The sea water is still very green but no impact on the coral reefs has been found. And no oil stains were found from random sampling and field visits. There will be continuous monitoring of seawater quality for at least another 6 months to build confidence among citizens and tourists.

The Plankton Bloom that occurs is not harmful to the environment. It will only cause the sea to turn green. and has a strong fishy odor Tourists should not swim in the water. This is because it may cause itching and irritation. As for seafood, Can be handled and eaten normally.

As for the guidelines for solving the issue of Plankton Bloom, expert environmental academics give an opinion that Should provide knowledge about Plankton Bloom to the people and solve the problem at the root cause by seriously installing a wastewater treatment system.
