A rich harvest of potatoes has been harvested from the fields in Dashoguz velayat. Unlike previous years, this year potatoes were planted only in spring. At the same time, the area allotted for it was significantly expanded and for the first time reached eight thousand eight hundred hectares.
Harvesting tubers with a yield of 140 centners per hectare was more than three times more than last year. The accumulated experience in growing crops and a responsible approach to solving new problems, rational use of land and water resources, careful selection of the most suitable high-yielding, disease-resistant and unpretentious varieties for the region allowed the potato growers of the region to successfully solve the tasks.
A great contribution to increasing the volume of potato production was made by the farmers of the etraps named after Gurbansoltan-edzhe, S.A. Niyazov, Boldumsaz etrap. More of it compared to last year was prepared in other etraps.
Despite the soil and climatic features, the northern region continues to be one of the main producers of fruits and vegetables in the country. In accordance with the tasks set for the agro-industrial complex to fully saturate the domestic market with local products, local farmers are consistently increasing the production of various crops.
For example, local farmers intend to harvest 2,000 tons of cucumbers and 9,625 tons of cabbage this year, which is 1,000 and 5,000 tons more than last year, respectively. The main factors in achieving success here are the timely implementation of the necessary agrotechnical measures, the careful selection of planting material, and the use of the most advanced methods of crop cultivation.
