Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) and Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability signed a Letter of Intent (Lol) to build a low-carbon development roadmap at the 2023 Indonesia Sustainable Forum (ISF) in Jakarta on Friday.The LoI was signed by Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability Dean Arun Majumdar, Head of OIKN Bambang Susantono, and two Stanford alumni, Pandu Sjahrir and Anindya Bakrie. The signing of the Lol was witnessed by the Association of Indonesian Employers (Apindo) Chairperson Shinta W. Kamdani and Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination, Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment, Rachmat Kaimuddin. “I am hoping to see results in the field by the end of this year,” Susantono stated. ccording to Susantono, the New Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) itself is founded on the three pillars of investment, knowledge, and network. Majumdar stated that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) makes the Indonesian government’s initiative in Nusantara unique and that he is thrilled to be involved. “We established an ambitious project at Stanford, the School of Sustainability. We are thrilled and honored to be a part of this ambitious project that Indonesia has started,” Majumdar affirmed. The President Director and CEO of PT Bakrie and Brothers Tbk (BNBR),Anindya Bakrie, was also pleased with the LoI. He believed that the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and IKN were committed to addressing sustainability issues. “As alumni and entrepreneurs, we expect that one day we will establish a Sustainability School of Indonesia at IKN,” he remarked. Future plans for IKN include making it a sustainable “pilot city,” with the hope that this will lead to legislation that will help transform Indonesia into a modern nation. The OIKN collaborated with Finland’s Smart City Innovation Cluster (SCIC) to make Indonesia’s new capital Nusantara in East Kalimantan a smart and happy city. “We are very open to the participation of various parties from both inside and outside Indonesia,” Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation of OIKN Mohammed Ali Berawi earlier noted. Berawi stated here on Sunday that the synergy with SCIC has again shown that Nusantara is a city for all, as various companies, institutions, and governments are highly supportive of the development of this new capital city of Indonesia. The OIKN had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on measuring the happiness of urban communities with the SCIC. Berawi explained that the collaboration aims to encourage and promote Nusantara as a smart and happy city. The collaboration also offers solutions to accelerate the development of a smart city through cooperation, and this is in accordance with the direction of developing Nusantara as a smart and happy city. “OIKN has an MoU with SCIC in developing, planning, and building a smart city in Nusantara,” Berawi stated. Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of SCIC Pertti Kortejrrvi remarked that the collaboration is a joint effort to integrate various technologies as solutions in Nusantara. The collaboration will integrate solutions for many aspects, including energy, data transfer, smart buildings, smart areas, smart city, energy consumption, and water waste management, Kortejrrvi remarked.
