President asks minister to subsidize organic fertilizers again

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has instructed Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo to again include organic fertilizers in the types of fertilizers that are subsidized by the government.Limpo informed that the President gave the instruction at a limited meeting held at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday. The meeting was also attended by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto. “Today (Thursday), the President emphasized that organic fertilizers must be included again (as subsidized fertilizers). And the Agriculture Minister needs to immediately change Regulation Number 10 after all processes that have to be done quickly,” he said at a press conference at the Presidential Palace Complex here. The minister informed that President Widodo has instructed him to promptly revise the Agriculture Minister’s Regulation Number 10 of 2022 on the procedures for determining the allocation and retail price ceiling of subsidized fertilizers in the agricultural sector. In the regulation, which was stipulated on July 6, 2022, a change was made to the types of fertilizers that would be subsidized by the government. Initially, there were six types of fertilizers that were subsidized by the government: ammonium sulfate (ZA), urea, SP-36, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK), organic fertilizers, and liquid organic fertilizers. However, their number was reduced to only two types of fertilizers, namely urea and NPK. On account of the limited availability of raw materials for fertilizers due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the President has determined the support for the production of organic fertilizers. ccording to Limpo, Widodo has called for the centralization of organic fertilizers by reviving all organic fertilizer producers, both at the community and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) levels. “The President decided the support that organic fertilizers, fertilizer producers, must continue to be accommodated,” the minister said. baca-jugaRelated news: Jokowi urges farmers to use local organic fertilizersRelated news: President Jokowi sets deadline for improving fertilizer distribution

Continuing to bridge differences in Myanmar as ASEAN chair: govt

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia, as the chair of the ASEAN Summit, is continuing efforts to bridge the gaps in the views and positions of all stakeholders in Myanmar, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi has said.”We (Indonesia) open engagement (two-way communication) as the chairperson (of ASEAN) as broadly as possible so that we listen to their views and try to bridge the difference in positions,” she said when asked about Indonesia’s contribution as the chair of ASEAN to resolving the conflict in Myanmar. This was conveyed by Marsudi after attending a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo to discuss preparations for the ASEAN Summit at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday. She said that resolving the conflict in Myanmar will not be easy, but Indonesia, as ASEAN chair, will continue to try and build communication. She revealed that the efforts made by Indonesia in Myanmar have included communicating with the Myanmar military, with the National Unity Government of Myanmar (NUG), as well as Ethnic Armed Groups, and several political parties there. s for the decision reached during the previous summit, Myanmar will be invited to the 2023 ASEAN Summit at a non-political representative level because of the conflict that is still going on in that country, Marsudi informed. She also stated that at the ASEAN Summit, there will be two meeting sessions, namely the plenary session and the retreat session. During the retreat session, she said, the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar would be discussed. The Five-Point Consensus was developed by ASEAN leaders through a special meeting, which was also attended by the leader of the Myanmar junta, General Min Aung Hlaing, to help Myanmar overcome its political crisis. The Five-Point Consensus calls for an end to violence in Myanmar, dialogue with all stakeholders, the appointment of a special envoy to facilitate mediation and dialogue, allowing ASEAN to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar, and allowing the special ASEAN envoy to visit and meet with stakeholders in Myanmar. ccording to Marsudi, during the retreat, the leaders of ASEAN countries will review the consensus. She further emphasized that, according to President Joko Widodo’s direction, this year’s ASEAN Summit will discuss the Myanmar issue, but ASEAN’s priority will remain efforts to accelerate the development of the ASEAN community, whose benefits are always sought by the ASEAN community. “So what are the benefits of ASEAN matters for its people, this is what ASEAN leaders must answer,” said Marsudi. The main event of the ASEAN Summit will take place in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, on May 1011, 2023. Various preparations have been made by the government at the venue for the event. Some time ago, President Joko Widodo also directly inspected the locations that will serve as venues for the ASEAN Summit. According to Minister Retno, all preparations related to the ASEAN Summit are on the right track. baca-jugaRelated news: Building trust important in Myanmar to support peace: MarsudiRelated news: Myanmar conflict can end if Russia stops weapons supply: US

Local companies contributing to Nusantara development: ministry

N Penajam Paser, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has emphasized that the development of Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan has involved local contractors and construction companies. The new capital’s territory has been carved from Kutai Kartanegara and North Penajam Paser districts in East Kalimantan. Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, in a statement released here on Thursday, affirmed that his ministry will continue encouraging local companies to get involved in the new capital’s development. State-owned companies involved in the new capital’s development are also engaging in partnerships with local entrepreneurs, he added. “State companies (engaged) in the new capital’s development are cooperating with local entrepreneurs and construction companies (by designating them) as sub-contractors,” Hadimuljono informed. The minister pointed out that the presence of vehicles whose registration plates bear the code KT — for East Kalimantan — has proven local companies’ involvement in development. “There is operational cooperation between state companies and private enterprises, and as we can see, trucks and other vehicles involved in the new capital development all have registration plates that start with code KT,” he highlighted. He said that state-owned companies are also cooperating with local entrepreneurs and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to secure logistics and meet the food needs of construction workers. “We are cooperating with local catering companies, and we are also procuring our vegetables, rice, dishes, and others from local sources,” Hadimuljono said. Local entrepreneurs and contractors participating in the new capital’s development will open new jobs for residents and bolster their quality of life, the minister said, while expressing confidence that the new city will benefit the economy of East Kalimantan. baca-jugaRelated news: OIKN prepares spatial planning regulations for new capitalRelated news: Nusantara authority invites world investors to support IKN development

New World Citizenship Report 2023 shows HNWIs and mass affluent in search of freedom: CS Global Partners

London, April 26, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The second edition of the annual World Citizenship Report, reveals how high-net-worth-individuals (HNWIs) and the mass affluent are in search of greater freedoms – whether that means being able to enjoy better social safety and security for oneself and family, increased access to better employment prospects and business opportunities or being able to live in territories with higher social and institutional stability – the post-Covid ‘normal’ has global citizens looking beyond the confines of their own borders when thinking about their own future, and the future of their families.

With so much change happening so rapidly around us – inflation, broader macroeconomic volatility, geopolitical instability, energy uncertainty – it can be challenging to keep up with how all these disparate factors coming to bear on the prevailing attitudes toward global citizenship.

The World Citizenship Report is the world’s first-ever endeavour in investigating the value of citizenship through the lens of the global citizen. It answers how can we keep abreast of the shifting kaleidoscope of citizenship values and priorities using the World Citizenship Index, an innovative tool that takes a holistic approach to rank the world’s citizenships across multiple dimensions.

The World Citizenship Index is the product of a research-driven approach that goes beyond ordinary concepts of passport strength by placing greater emphasis on the diverse attitudes regarding key facets of citizenship. Unlike other rating tools, the World Citizenship Index ranking is designed to reflect a citizenship’s value through the lens of the newest generation of global citizens: the mass affluent population.

Biggest motivators to invest in alternative citizenship include quality of life, safety and security and financial freedom
The World Citizenship Report measures 188 countries across five motivators that are most relevant among the newest generation of global citizens – Safety and Security, Economic Opportunity, Quality of Life, Global Mobility and Financial Freedom.

This year, the Quality of Life ranked in first position of the five pillars, overtaking both Physical Safety and Financial Freedom.

Quality of Life looks at territories’ ability to provide its citizens with essential services required for a good standard of living, including higher standards of education and healthcare facilities.

Monaco, Denmark and Hong Kong took the top three spots in the Quality of Life pillar.

The United States came in at 29th position. African countries took the bottom 10 positions, with Somalia taking 185th place.

We are unfortunately living through a period where the standard of living is falling at the fastest rate in over a generation.

At the end of 2022, the UK Office for Budget Responsibility reported that UK households are set to suffer a 7.1 per cent fall in living standards over the next two years, the largest decline in six decades. And, according to the latest United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) report published at the end of 2022, living conditions in 90 per cent of the world’s countries deteriorated in 2021 – something that hasn’t been seen since the height of the previous global recession caused by the financial crisis in 2007. Moreover, it marked the first consecutive year of decline in the 32-year history of the Human Development Index (HDI).
This data shows why quality of life is so highly coveted among global mass affluents, and indeed all individuals.

The Safety and Security motivator assesses how people in a certain country have the ability to enjoy greater social safety and security for themselves and their families and whether they have a safety net against being trapped in a territory with civil disorder.

Iceland took first place in the Safety and Security motivator, New Zealand came a close second place and Switzerland took third place. Afghanistan scored the lowest in this pillar.

Safety and Security remains an obvious top priority for the average mass affluent global citizen. This comes as no surprise given the uncertain state of the world – one need to look no further than the war in Ukraine as a painful reminder of the relative fragility of peace. Western nations now have a growing preoccupation or sense of danger around the prospect of war, having an active war so close to home compared with conflicts in Asia, Africa, and other parts of the world.

The Financial Freedom motivator measures the ability of a country to provide a favourable and stable regulatory climate for the establishment and functioning of businesses, as well as the holding of personal and business assets.

Denmark, New Zealand and Singapore took the first three spots in this pillar.

The growing desire for citizens to conduct their own financial affairs such as wealth management and estate planning without undue surveillance and burdensome regulations appears to be a feature of the current economic climate. While 43 per cent of World Citizenship Report survey respondents placed the heaviest emphasis on the employment opportunities typically associated with economic performance, those that placed importance on investments, estate planning, and wealth planning combined for a total of 37 per cent.

These sentiments reflect the growing perception that the rising costs of living and broader economic uncertainty are being accompanied by a creeping tax burden as state expenditures continue to escalate due to rocketing debt-servicing costs brought on by a tightening monetary landscape, rapid demographic changes, and other factors.

It must also be noted that governments themselves are being stressed by this tightening fiscal landscape due to the rising costs of servicing their debt – a factor that is fuelling the trend of rising tax burdens globally.

“In the 2022 edition of the World Citizenship Report, we only surveyed high-net-worth individuals (HNWI), this year, we expanded the survey to include a wider audience in order to gain a better perspective of what people prioritise in terms of their own nationality. The expanded audience of over 1000 participants included both HNWIs and the mass affluent from across the globe. Findings from the survey showed that while the research participants came from varied backgrounds and cultures, all with different needs and pain points, they all had one common goal: freedom,” concludes Micha Emmet, CEO of CS Global Partners.

The Cluff Lake Road (CLR) Project, 5km east of Cluff Lake Road, covers approximately 531ha in the southwestern Athabasca Basin in northern Saskatchewan, where several new discoveries have been made.

The CLR property belonging to the Company is encircled by F3 (“F3”) Uranium Corp.’s (formerly Fission 3.0) high-profile Paterson Lake North (PLN) project. Kiplin’s summer program will encompass a minimum of 8 line-kilometres of Induced Polarization (IP) resistivity geophysical surveying, running roughly in an east-west direction. The Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment will be approached for the necessary permits, and the Company will initiate engagement and consultations with its indigenous partners and stakeholders, which will continue throughout the phases of permitting, exploration, and closure.
